Interested in a job with the court system? The Norfolk Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is seeking responsible individuals to work as Deputy Clerk 1. We provide all training necessary so there is no experience necessary. We are looking for individuals that can meet with the public and work as a member of a team. The Deputy Clerk 1 position description is as follows:

Work Schedule:
- Days: Monday – Friday
- Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (40 hours per week)
The Deputy Clerk is responsible for filing, photocopying, scanning documents and responding to telephone, in person and written inquiries from the public. The Deputy Clerk performs basic bookkeeping, case management and financial management duties under the direction of the Supervising Deputy. The Deputy Clerk follows established guidelines and procedures that are generally repetitive and narrow in scope. Duties require accuracy and a close attention to detail. Drug Screen, Background Checks and Reference Checks Required. Examples of duties include:
- fill out business or government forms
- maintain records, reports, or files
- take messages
- use computers to enter, access or retrieve data
- use secretarial procedures
- work as a team member
- explain government rules or policies
- file documents in court
- follow confidentiality procedures
- follow court operation procedures
- compile information for court cases
- search legal records
- relay information to proper officials
- date stamp messages, mail, or other information
- operate scanner
- perform clerical duties including typing, accepting orders, or sorting mail
- collect fees
- familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Starting Salary: $39,312.00
